The Workforce Readiness SIG works with non-profits and educational institutions to assist individuals who are entering, transitioning to, or re-entering the labor market, as well as the underemployed, in becoming more knowledgeable, qualified employees through training, coaching and mentoring. One of the most important components is assisting our partner organizations in understanding the needs of employers. Working with non-profit groups to offer guidance in preparing people such as military veterans, individuals with disabilities, underprivileged youth and those who can benefit from the Fair Chance Initiative allows us to provide the NYC SHRM community with alternative sources for qualified, but often overlooked applicants.
